TheUpgrade Tel Aviv-Jerusalem attempts to create and develop
a nomadic and independent platform for meeting, discussion,
exchange, and information, about art & technology, media,
activism and culture. The principal aim of the Upgrade TLV-JLM,
is to enforce the local art community by introducing the works
and activities of local and international new-media artists,
finding new opportunities and way for collaboration, development
and learning. At each meeting one or two artists or art mediators
present their work in progress and past ones and fosters dialogue
with the present audience composed of forty to sixty people
of a larger and dynamic community.
The Upgrade TLV-JLM has been running since May 2005 in a monthly
basis featuring each time in a different venue in Tel Aviv
and since April 2006 also in different venues in Jerusalem.
This decision attempts to let artists to open possible collaborations
with a wider range of institutions and to keep the Upgrade
gatherings independent.

The local node was initiated in Tel Aviv by Mushon Zer Aviv
and continued since august 2005 by sala-manca group.

Once a month or two a group of new media artists, curators,
activists and enthusiasts gather in Israel, for a session
titled The Upgrade! Tel-Aviv.
It is aimed at enriching ourselves by introducing the works and activities of local and global new-media artists and activists, and to find opportunities for us to learn from each other, collaborate, and develope this field in Israel and beyond. Specifically focusing on the effects the media has on our region, The Upgrade! Tel-Aviv will focus not only on new-media art, but also on Media Activism and the way understanding the power of the media and the ways in which it can be used by the civil-society can contribute to a social change.
At each meeting one or two artists present work in progress that fosters a dialogue with the group.
The local events series is inspired and affiliated with The Upgrade! NYC, initiated by New-York based Israeli net art artist Yael Kanarek, and supported by Eyebeam. The call to expend to Israel was answered in May 2005 by Mushon Zer-Aviv and the Maarav online art, culture, and media magazine.

מידי כחודשיים קבוצת אמני מדיה-חדשה, אוצרים, אקטיביסטים ונלהבים בתחום מתאספים לסדרה בשם The Upgrade Tel-Aviv. מטרת הסדרה להעשיר את עצמינו ע"י מפגש עם יצירות ופעילויות של אמני ופעיפמדיה מהארץ ומהעולם, וליצור הזדמנויות עבורנו ללמוד אחד מהשני, לשתף פעולה ולשדרג את התחום בארץ ומחוצה לה. מתוך התמקדות באפקט האדיר של המדיה על איזורינו, The Upgrade Tel-Aviv! יתמקד לא רק באמנות המדיה החדשה, אלא גם במדיה-אקטיביזם ובדרך בה הבנת כוחה של המדיה והדרכים בהן יכול הציבור לעשות בה שימוש לטובת שינוי חברתי.
בכל מפגש יוצר אחד או שניים יציגו עבודה בתהליך אשר יעוררו דיאלוג עם הקבוצה.
הסדרה בארץ שואבת את השראתה ומקושרת ל-The Upgrade NYC, יוזמה של אמנית-הרשת הישראלית / ניו-יורקית, יעל קנרק בתמיכת ארגון Eyebeam. ההזמנה להתרחב לישראל נענתה במאי 2005 ע"י מושון זר-אביב ומגזין הרשת מארב.
