Moving Landscape Images (Work Title)
by Elad Schechter & Thalia Hoffman

“Through movement the whole is divided up into objects, and objects are re- united in the whole, and indeed between the two ‘the whole’ changes. “ (Gilles Deleuze, Cinema 1)

The project investigates the topographic changes and remains, which are left at and effect , the current space of Ein-Kerem. This investigation is led by the combined thread of movement, which is a dominant factor of both the arts of the creators - movement of body and movement of images.

The main topics of our interest are the changes of history and abundance of contexts within the village of Ein Kerem, both ancient and recent. Within these changes we search our way through what foremost induced them - Judaism, Christianity and Islam (not necessarily in this order).

Our first exploration seeks to capture what persist within a space after a specific movement has occurred upon it.

Unison - Simultaneous performance of action, is a well known phrase of dance in which at least two dancers perform the exact same movements. This phrase will take place at a certain time and place at Ein Kerem and will be documented through a duration of time examining the effect and changes through a panoramic 360 degrees moving image. These images will be accompanied by the sounds of the ‘real’ action and a video still of the actual unison occasion.
