20:15 - 20:30 The Insanity of Hand Washing or Semmelweiss Effect | Alon Cohen Lifshitz [to the work - Zoom]

This work is a tribute to The Hungarian physician Ignatz Semmelweis which claims that hand washing can save lives. His ideas were rejected by the medical institutions. The term Semmelweiss reflex is on his name and symbolized rejection to new ideas which are against ongoing believes, ideas and norms.

The work is based on images and statements dealing with the ideas and perceptions of dirt and cleanliness, morality and purity based on religious, traditional, political and social believes as a background for a unique way of hand washing with other materials and liquids beside water.
